1940s was a special age in which disappointment and despair, together with hope were mixed. In those years the deterioration and improvement of the war situation as a compass always controlled all aspects of people's lives. Meanwhile, urban literature came down to common men's world from dancing sky, which style was transferred to become gracious and plain from sentimental. Urban literature in 1940s did neither spread romantic love as it did in 1920s, nor praise engineering industry as it did in 1930s, but heavily repeated and carefully described people's daily lives and unfortunate sufferings. The writing words were formed by the mean that the authors' simply modified their experience and information appearing around and more or less showed common, place and ordinary. In this essay the author is going to discuss urban life of 1940s writings by woman writher. Starting from describing the scene of region controlled by Kuomindang and the authors' living and writing as well as analyzing urban literature with SuQing's Ten-year Marriage, ZhengXu and PanLiudai's Autobiography of Retired Madam and ZhangAiling's Ledgen as examples.
