| The development of Chinese ancient music culture has reached its tuning point in Song Dynasty, whereas the mainstream of the music culture shift its focus from the music of palace onto the music of civilian and in this period, the two cultures become to syncretize with each other. The facts that Song dynasty inherits the regime from Tang dynasty not only succeed and innovate the kind of the Zither but also make the Song Zither more popular and prevail among the civilian. This paper put its focus on the categories of the Song Zither and its popularity within different locations, from which we can see the reservation of the five-chord Zither, the twelve-chord Zither and thirteen-chord Zither in Song Dynasty, the innovation for the fourteen-chord Zither and fifteen-chord Zither and the great contribution of the Ya Zither. With different aesthetic view points, the succession and the development for the aesthetic towards Zither Yue of the people of the Song Dynasty are also presented in the paper, besides that, the scholar-bureaucrats among the literators of the Song Dynasty under the influence of the politics and culture also have their unique aesthetic view points towards the Zither compared with that from the Tang Dynasty. This paper consists of three main parts: Part 1: The application of the Song Zither. This part consists of the introduction for the reservation of the five-chord Zither, the twelve-chord Zither and thirteen-chord Zither in Song Dynasty, the innovation for the fourteen-chord Zither and fifteen-chord Zither. Part 2: The category of the Song Zither. This part describes the application of the Song Zither in the music of palace which includes the Ya-Yue and the Yan-Yue and the development for the music of civilian. Part 3: Aesthetic view points towards the Zither music in Song Dynasty. This part focus on the reservation and the uniqueness of aesthetic view points towards the Zither music from five different aspects such as the characteristics and the sorrowfulness of the Zither and so on. |
