In the study of revolution history the Christians are often neglected. This thesis focuses on American Church Mission in Wuhan during the period from ten years before the 1911 revolution to Wuchang First Up-rising. It studies that Wuhan Christians such as Liu Jing-an, Hu Ian-ting and Huang Ji-ting etc propagandized, supported and attended the 1911 revolution and dicusses the reasons why the Christians of American Church Mission in Wuhan supported the revolution. Wuhan Christians made use of Ri Zhi-hui, a reading room that was established in the church of American Church Mission in Wuhan and Boone College publicize the anti-Qing Dynasty opinions, rescued revolutionaries with the help of church and provided the new army with money, people and medical treatment. They were propagators and ministrants. Thereinto, Ri Zhi-hui was the source of the Wuchang First Up-rising. It is obvious that they cared about not only salvation and heaven but also the density of China, both of which were mingled. As Chinese Christians, they attended mundane life in order to save country. But the Chinese clergy and the common adherents had different points about the relation between saving country and belief. As the common adherents Liu Jing-an etc. converted Christian under the consideration of saving China, while for the Chinese clergies Hu Lan-ting and Huang Ji-ting saving China and faith are both important.At the same time, the influence of Bishop Roots' -. the characteristic of American Church Mission "covering all of aspects " " compatible and tolerant" and social gospel provide the beneficial conditions for Christians.
