The aim of this thesis is to analyze the characters in the novels of Ms. Zhangailing by the method of classified unscrambling, summarize the character of the Declining Family written by Ms. Zhang with the typical feudal family structure of grandfather, parents and son. Thus, the thesis appeals to break away from the formalized and mechanical commentary on the novels of Ms. Zhang, which criticize her works for absence of profundity and broadness, and reveals the unique civilization significance of the novels of Ms. Zhang.In most of Ms. Zhang, s novels, she describes a declining feudal kinship family. There is a series of typical figures in the feudal family pedigree of grandfather, parents and son: the absent grandfather, the emasculated father, the mother without maternity and the degenerate son.Thus, the thesis reveals the complexity of the consciousness of human being, compensates the blind spot of popular literature and presents a sample for the lasting topic of humanity in the transforming times.
