The famous gifted woman of Song Dynasty, Zhu Shuzhen, writer of the Collection of Heartbroken, is a controversial literary figure and is therefore still under discussion. Among her works, poems account for a much larger part. Her poems, natural, clear and sweet, conveyed feelings through objects; while her ci, elegant and concise, benefited much from the lingering charm of the late Tang Dynasty. By availing itself of the materials in her works, the paper is written with an attempt to probe into her life stories, her literary creations and the feminist approach embodied, and most importantly to find a proper place for not only the poet herself but also for her works.The paper is divided into three parts.Chapter â… : Zhu Shuzhen, the figure. Based on the analysis of her works, the 4-part-long chapter constitutes a detailed exposition of her life stories and the years of her birth and death.Chapter â…¡: Zhu's ci enjoys an undisputable fame in Chinese literary field. This 3-part-long chapter makes a general comment on the subjects, the content and the artistic features of her ci.Chapter â…¢: Zhu's poems. Unlike her ci, Zhu's poems receive less attention but still exhibit a strong personal color. From the talk about the content, artistic status and the artistic features of her poems, this chapter leads to the discussion about the feminist characteristics in the works of female writers.The following is the analysis and comment on Zhu's works.
