Since ancient time, there have been a lot of legends, comments and studies about "Chi You" , who is one of the most famous images called"Rebellious God" in Chinese myths and tales. In latter half of the 20th century, with the identification of the "Miao nationality" , there surface a lot of tales about "Chi You" from the public of Miao people. Since 1980s, the intellectual circles of Miao nationality study have launched the "Chi You Rivive Movement" which is a movement to correct the false comments on "Chi You" . Based on the materials from the public of Miao people and Chinese ancient books, scholars of Miao nationality study prove that "Chi You" has played an important role in the Chinese history and it is related to the Miao people closely. Thus they object the former wrong writings on "Chi You" , and presented the statements:"Chi You is Miao nationality' s ancestor" and "Chi You, Yan Di and Huang Di are all ancestors of the Chinese nation" . Their achievements have given rise to great interests of intellectual circles of other nationalities and other subjects, and changed the Chinese nation' s memories of ancestors to some extend.This paper is devoted to the comparative study of the two different images of Chi You in legends of Han and Miao nationality. Chapter one deals with the characteristics of Chi You of Han nationality. And chapter two is about Chi You of Miao nationality. Based on an analysis of "hero" and "war" -two important factors in plots, chapterthree reveals the meaning of Chi You to history writings, and further, discusses the influence of ethnicity writing on literature images.
