Violence sometimes may have cleared away obstructions quickly, but it has never proved itself creative. -EinsteinThis study investigated the extent to which 12 Rorschach variables of aggression ( AgC, AgPot, AG, AgPast, AAg, PAg, OAg, CAg, AgE, MOR, Mh, Ph) are related to one another, to the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale(BPRS). All the used in this study were taken from inpatient and outpatient psychological clinic according to Chinese Classification and Diagnostic Criteria of mental Disorders (CCMD-3). The results of this study indicated that (a) these 12 Rorschach aggression variables have good Cronbach α reliability coefficient (all above 0.77); (b) 3 factors, revealed by factor analysis, accounted for 76% of the total variance; (c) many strong relations (p<0.01) between these variables, and selected variables were found to be empirically related to a doctor-rating measure of BPRS hostility factor. Independent - sample T Test indicated variable AgC & total aggressiove score means significant different between the high group and low group of BPRS hostility factor. The conceptual nature and clinical utility of these Rorschach aggression variables as well as implications for future research are discussed. These findings support the use of the Rorschach variables in the assessment of certain aggression as well as contributing to a better conceptual understanding of aggression.
