The Research About Using Rorschach As A Measure Of Type A Personality

As the material life becomes increasingly abundant, people in modern times suffer more and more physical and mental diseases, among which coronary heart disease (CHD) has been seriously affecting human health and gradually attracting attention from scholars. In the field of psychology, type A personality is also known as CHD personality, that is, people with type A personality are more likely to develop CHD, for there is a high proportion of people with type A personality among those who suffer from CHD. From which aspects are the features of type A personality shown? What are the factors affecting the formation and development of type A personality? Is it possible to detect the inner psychological characteristics of type A personality by Rorschach Inkblot Test? Studies on these questions can contribute to a better understanding about characteristicperformance of type A personality. It is of great significance in the prevention and treatment of physical and mental diseases to screen and forecast the group inclined to development CHD.The common measurement methods are interview method and questionnaire method. With both flexibility of the former and structural property of the latter, in detection Rorschach Inkblot Test can erase the measured deviations caused by perfunctory acts and temperate or extreme answers in object scale tests. Consequently it can reveal psychological function of the subjects more effectively.Due to the specialty of Rorschach Inkblot Test, this research adopts the principle of voluntary participation and at the same time, uses Rorschach Inkblot Test and the questionnaire about type A personality(revised edition by Zhang Boyuan). The results of the research are as follows:(1) There are significant differences of type A personality in the factor "whether with CHD or not". Within middle-aged and elderly subjects,type A personality of women is more obvious than that of men, and within women subjects, type A personality of the "single daughter" is more obvious than that of women with siblings.(2) The eight variables of Rorschach Inkblot Test: m (movement of nonliving objects),Zd (scanning efficiency of information imputting), Xu% (proportion of unique reaction in the whole reactions), DR (improper sentence and redundancy), AG(aggression response), GHR (good human response) and PHR (poor human response)and PER (personal response) can effectively predict type A personality, among which the interpretive validity of m, PHR and GHR>PHR are much higher.
