Charles Ives (1874-1954), an amateur composer of America, constantly sought for a highly personalized musical expression through the most innovative and radical technical means possible but common during his non-utilitarian writing career, whose works are not for fame but only for his own interest and special effect highly close to reality. As an important musician in the beginning of last century, Ives inspired the development of American music. His contributions made him very special in the history of American music.Through the observation and reflection of Ives's unique musical existence, artistic principles, as well as his creation of music, this thesis is attempting to look into the value of the creativities of his works in various approaches of its structure, forms as well as skills, while conducts a comprehensive discussion on the meaning of existence of his music and the approaches of the appreciation.
