| College student suicide is becoming a serious problem for their healthy growth. The psychological health education in the universities is facing great challenge with the increasing incidence of college student suicide. Analyzing the psychological reasons for the college student suicide and exploring the corresponding methods of crisis intervention and suicide prevention are becoming very important subjects for the research of psychological health education in the universities.Firstly, this thesis ascribed the reasons leading to the suicide of college students and discussed the effect of cognitive distortions to the college student suicidal ideation and behavior by the investigation of case of college student suicide. Then the necessity and feasibility of the adoption of cognitive therapy in suicide prevention of college students were documented by further theoretical analysis. Furthermore, the corresponding intervention project and strategies were put forward on the basis of integrative application of Beck's Cognitive Therapy and Albert Ellis's Rational -emotive Therapy. The first step is to delay the impulse of suicide and survive the crisis. The second step is to recognize cognitive distortions and identify the style of wrong thinking. The third step is to change cognitive distortions and decrease the self-destructive behavior. Then we should lead college students to envisage the realism and improve the ability of problem-solving. At last, we validated the curative effect of Cognitive Therapy in intervening and preventing college student suicide through the research of the idiographic cases.According to the above mentioned theoretical analysis and empirical research, it is reasonably concluded that the manifestation of cognitive distortions, such as cognitive rigidity, dichotomous thinking and irrational belief is one of the most important psychological reasons for the genesis of the suicidal ideation and behavior of college students. The cognitive therapy is such an effective method to intervene and prevent the college student suicide that is worth further research and active practice. |
