Trial Research On The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale: Fourth Edition

The theme of the dissertation is to try out the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale: Fourth Edition in China. There are two aim of the trial research. The first one is to review whether the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale: Fourth Edition is applicable in our country, then to judge the possibility of revising it when we have the Chinese copyright about it. The second one is to find out advantages and limitations about the Stanford-Binet scale through the trial research, and to gain some information of the theory frame and compiling practice for developing our national standard individual intelligence scale.The plan and method of the research are as follows. First step is to clear up the research status about the Stanford-Binet at home and abroad. Then to translate four itembooks(including test items, directions and scoring criteria) and record booklet into Chinese, with that to produce the test materials in Chinese version. After this, planning to enter into the testing stage, from which we can collect the testing datum. Throughout the whole trial research, the penman insists on using the quality and quantity analyses, in order to get the psychometric characteristics and resolve the traits of the scale.The penman acquired two results from the trail research. Figured out the psychometric characteristics about the scale is the first result. The reliability and validity of the scale are all acceptable. Summed up the traits of the scale is the second one. There are the traits: (1) report several test scores, (2) carry out the adaptive testing definitely, (3) keep the consistency of the prior three editions, (4) the subtests show the traditional and innovational feature, (5) the convenient easel format, (6) the wider age range of the subject.There are two conclusions about the trail research. Firstly, the research indicates that the revise foundation of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale: Fourth Edition is very well, if we get the Chinese copyright about it, we will complete the revising work successfully with the direction of this trial research. Secondly, the penman brings forward some practical and pertinent advices for our own new scale.
