It is thought that there was a great progress in economy in Song Dynasty, which presented " the economic revolution " in Song Dynasty, especially in agriculture. But the view has been questioned by the present study, which focus on the following several problems: the study of ZhanCheng Rice, of the multiple cropping of rice and wheat, of the double-harvest rice and of the amount of the grain per mu. With the development of the approaches and theories in the study, Some old conclusions should be examined again, which was reflected in the study of the regional economical history at first. In this thesis I attach great importance to the development of the agriculture and commerce in Wenzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty. About the agriculture, besides the study of the growth in population and land, the key study is about grain, the double-harvest rice and the multiple cropping of rice and wheat. In the thesis I think the double-harvest rice and the multiple cropping of rice and wheat increased quite little in fact in Southern Song Dynasty. The amount of the grain was about 1.2 Dan per mu in Wenzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty. As a result, it appeared the pressure in population growth in Wenzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty, which caused the development of the commodity economy in Wenzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty. With the development of the commodity economy in this period, the local social custom has changed. In this thesis I give a study to the impact brought about by the economic development on the social culture as well as.
