Orwell, George, the pan-name of Eric Black (1903-1950) , a English novelist, essayist, and social critic , who was bora in Bengal, brought to England and wrote in early 20~th. His representative works include Animal Farm , Coming Up for Air, Nineteen Eighty -four etc. In the west society, his works have great influence in many fields , such as culture , politics and technology , even a terminology " Orwell's discourse " came out.Academic circles look Orwell as only an abstract symbol. Their studies are mainly on sociology. In their eyesight, Orwell was a democratic socialist, hating totalitarianism and becoming more and more disillusioned with the aims and methods of Communism. But his introspection towards human life in his works was ignored. Here the author orientates Orwell's values of history and culture in the tradition of English literature, demonstrates the significance of warning in modern society.This article, using many critical ways from Lacon, Foucault, Jameson, Adorno and Marcuse, and many theories form post-colonialism and cultural study, deeply analyzes Orwell's works. Basing on these theories, the paper discuss three aspects which includes culture, politics and aesthetic.First, through combing normal temperament in English literature, this article orientates Orwell's values in tradition of English literature, shows his conscience and pity to human nature and directly confront the pain in human life after he inherited morality temperament.Orwell, a white writer ,who was bom and worked in the colony, deeply indulged in paradox of living. From Orwell's mixed cultural identity and the marginal statues , the author analyzes Orwell's introspection and his criticism of empire's culture.Second, the author points out that totalitarianisms swallowed and deprived of the subjectivity of human in Orwell's works. With sober consciousness, Orwell awoken the expansion and development of totalitarianisms in the empire's civilization and post-industry's society. Under modernized background, totalitarianisms controlled human life by technology. Furthermore, the author thinks , Orwell's works foretold disastrous destroy of human being by fable 's writing.From above, the author draws a conclusion that Orwell was a pioneer who introspected the empire's culture in west society. The significance of this point is to remedy the regret that except colony writers that everybody of the west society keeps silent in the age when Orwell was living and writing.Third, Orwell's works took on Anti-Utopia artistic conception that negative the abnormal reality and further negative the illusion which cover the abnormal reality .In the author's opinions, Orwell struggled to rescue human inherent life by artistic power. What Orwell have done was that he was dancing in the brink of hell. Through the dancing, the despair of deeds , human's life have received courage to resist death .So, the author names Orwell's works negative literature which stems from affirm culture which was put forward by Marcuse . Orwell's works releases the strong negative and critical style. In the history of west culture, as a spirits archetype of human life, negativity have suffered from submerging and covering during development of capitalism society, especially in the technology -image society.It is fortunate that Orwell assumed the mission of inheriting and deepening the negative literature in the field of English culture during the age of early 20th. And the pursue to human inherent life brings Orwell's works vital energy and eternal warning.
