During 1960s—1970s, revised Chinese piano compositions developed into its mature time. This period witnessed unprecedented quality and quantity of the compositions. Those outstanding works with national characteristics greatly enriched Chinese piano art. The special expressing way blended harmoniously with traditional Chinese music, giving piano-the western musical instrument new Chinese flavor. Meanwhile it greatly improved the piano professional skill. The Chinese characteristic of the revised piano compositions was the key-point understand and master this special music expressing way. This article studies development of revised Chinese piano compositions and describes its national characteristics. It can divided into three parts: Ⅰ To discuss the development from social backgroud, brief introduction of the works, meaning and social significance; Ⅱ Conclude Chinese characteristics of the revised piano compositions: ① From tone-color and melody, reveal the revised piano compositions inherit the expressing way of traditional Chinese music; ② From harmony and instrucinon, explain the revised piano compositions create something new on the base of traditional music; ③ From poetic atmosphere and rhyme, conclude the cultural specialty of revised piano compositions. Ⅲ To display the special performing style of revised Chinese piano composition during 1960s-1970s: ① From expressing way and cultural connotation, state the performing features of revised piano compositions in 1960s-1970s; ② The author's suggestions for better performing style with Chinese characteristic. As the conclusion of the article, the author calls for high attention and further research to this special piano art. Hope that we can improve the development of national piano art by practicing the revised piano composition.
