Speaking of the local creation, Yan Lianke is an unavoidable writer. Since treading into the literary arena in the 80's, he has been persistently working hard in the literature world which he has built for 20 years. Regardless of being in the military theme domain or in the local theme domain, he has obtained outstanding achievements. In particular, beginning from the middle 90's, Yan Lianke's work has changed a lot. Without using the former practical skills, he adopts the surrealism writing techniques to bring into line with the farmers' miserable life, which deeply expresses the farmers' living situations. This also makes him a quite important writer who has got a characteristic style to start a new path for the regional literature. However, during the latest twenty years Yan Lianke's novels are criticized from the angles of content and subject, but seldom from the angle of writing techniques. Therefore, this paper, taking his work before the middle 90's as the reference and centering the theme of miseries, mainly aims at Yan Lianke's work after the middle 90's to attempt to discuss Yan Lianke's surrealism writing. The thesis can be divided into three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. In the first part, it mainly points out Yan Lianke focuses on the farmer's miseries all the time when he enters the local creation, and takes it as his own creation matrix. He attempts to concern farmer's real living condition and the entire local world through "miseries"—an intrinsic esthetic perspective. The second part mainly elaborates Yan Lianke abandons the traditional writing skills and adopts the surrealism writing techniques when expresses farmers' miseries. The techniques such as distortion, absurdness, representation and sub-consciousness are borrowed and used omni-directionally. It also explains the corresponding breakthrough to the narrative model of the traditional local theme novel, which mainly displays in the desalination and transformation of time and space, character's symbolization and signifying, the extremeness and severity of the plot and the strangeness of the language, but all these are assuring Yan Lianke's pursuing for the esthetic principle of the dynamics and the depth of miseries. This makes the miseries in the author's writing have the "the fable" tendency and be original at the same time, which leading the text to surpass the earthly life and be superorganic. The third part points out it is because of Yan Lianke's better combination of the content and the form that enables it to achieve a rather deep profundity and a high philosophical level in expressing miseries with surrealism writing techniques. In addition, the surrealism writing has been eloquent for unifying with miseries. The conclusion part deals with Yan Lianke's value and significance of borrowing surrealism writing in local creation as well as his insufficiency.
