Disease,as a kind of abnormal state of body, has never been merely a simple physiological phenomenon in human culture, but hides a profound symbolic meaning behind it.The function of disease in literature is often used as a metaphor(symbol). The image of disease in literary works also carries a cultural code and a metaphorical meaning. In the history of modern Chinese literature,"disease" has become a common means for writers to disclose the national status quo and national spirit, and has become a burden of social symbols and meanings.Fictions in the May 4th period often endowed disease with the function of nation-state,forming the tradition of "sick patient" and "sick country".Since the May 4th period,it has been flowing in the long river of modern Chinese literature.Since the 1990 s,with the vigorous development of market economy, disease as a way of body existence has been re-emphasized,and has become an effective means of expressing the social status quo.Yan Lianke is a contemporary writer who is obsessed with exploring diseases.Looking at Yan Lianke's works,we can find that his writings are full of rich writings about diseases.Yan Lianke writes about illness repeatedly with fantastic imagination, and examines illness continuously with almost cruelty, which has become a unique existence in his novels. What kind of literary world a person contains in his heart and what kind of literary style his novel will inevitably present. This paper attempts to study the appearance of disease in his creation and analyze the causes and significance of its formation through the image of disease, taking Yan Lianke's three works "Living in the Sun",and "Ding Zhuang Meng" as texts, and combining the author's own experience. In order to further understand Yan Lianke's complex and pluralistic literary world. In these three novels,Yan Lianke describes the physically defective characters through allegorical writing. They have suffered unprecedented distortion and trauma in the cruel political movement and real suffering. On these sick "labourers",Yan Lianke constantly writes and shows the suffering of diseases. This article is divided into four parts. The introduction part gives a comprehensivereview of the disease writing and Yan Lianke's research achievements in modern and contemporary Chinese literature. In the first chapter, starting with the throat obstruction in "Sunshine Floating Years",the author analyses the characters' resistance to fate in desperate circumstances and the dialectics of life and death hidden behind the text.In the fabled writing, the author thinks about the original meaning of life through the suffering brought by illness, and praises the courage of people to fight in the desperate situation of life.Chapter 2 analyses the work "Living",after the praise of "Living in the Sun",the writer continues to write about illness and suffering. The difference is that Living goes beyond the single thinking of suffering in "Living in the Sun" and the way of writing has changed to some extent, with a sense of humor and ridicule, which shows the absurd efforts of Chinese rural society in different times. With the crazy fantasy, the writer implies his concern and anxiety for reality in his absurd writing.Chapter three analyses Dingzhuang Dream, which is different from disease writing in the past. What we see in Dingzhuang Dream is only the display of the disastrous consequences of disease to people, such as the character's pathology, the alienation of rural ethics and so on.There is only the display and display of the darkness brought by suffering in the work, and there is nothing else. Finally, the conclusion summarizes and analyses the significance and shortcomings of the author's disease writing.Painful memories and history may have been most habits and forgotten, but Yan Lianke used his writing to carry all the pain, expressing his concern and anxiety about reality.
