On The Geo-environment Of Dangxiang Rise In The 7～(th)-10～(th) Centuries

The Xixia Dynasty was a strong national regime in the Northwest of China from 10th to 13th centuries.It had a deep influence in China's history. People have different ideas about this imperial court emerges. This paper discusses the rise and the development of Xixia Dynasty, which had very close relationship to its main national party, Dangxiang and the geo-environment of the Xia State tribe establishment.This paper states the changes of the geo- environment of Dangxing from 7th to 10th centuries, analyzing the structure and influence of the geo- environment. The change of the geo- environment is about the period of Dangxiang rising, in which Dangxiang tribe lived in poor and natural conditions, many different tribes living nearby. Dangxiang is the result of nationalities in the North and the South Dynasties. The Kingdom of Tuyuhun, Tibetan Regime and the Tang Dynasty had some confilicts with Dangxiang, especially the confilict between the Tang Dynasty and Tuyuhun; between the Tang Dynasty and Tibetan Regime, which gave a tremendous influence to Dangxiang development. Another problem is about the surroundings of Dangxiang during the dynasties of Tang and Wudai. After moving to the Tang Areas, Dangxiang made rapid progress in both political organization and social production. For example, Dangxiang learnt how to plant, sow and cultivate. It made quick development in agricultural economy; strengthening exchanges with foreign countries; progressing in social life; making close relationship with Tang Dynasty. The numerous disorderly situations of Wudai had given Dangxiang an opportunity to stress its politics, structure and the geo-environment. Natural living environment determined Dangxiang economic development tendencies, such as climate, vegetation, growing. What kind of characteristic economy could Dangxiang develop its local products? Dangxiang area was roughly divided into three parts: the regions of Xingling, Yinxia and Hexi Corridor. There were geographical environments with many differences and natural climate in these areas, which determined regional characteristic of Dangxiang economy, particularly plain agriculture, mountain region farming and animal husbandry, oasis farming as well as animal husbandry. The different regional economies of Dangxiang depended on the developed traffic to communicate with trade, and form the radiation to the national economy in the surrounding areas, Bluish white salt, such as business with imperial court of Central Plains.
