As a theoretical viewpoint and critical method, Feminism has already infiltrated various fields of social subjects; meanwhile, encourged by the globalization and the culture pluralism, the feminism theory tends to be more and more idiographic, which secures the combination of the research of feminism with the journalism and communication. As a well-known feminism director specializing in describing females in the moviedom of Hong Kong. Stanley KWAN has moulded numerous fine and smooth ,gentle and lovely ,vivid women images with his peculiar and deep concerning in women's world and his keen insight on women's psychology; and he has been thinking deeply about the relationship between movie and reality with his space-time idea and close-attention to women's world, so as to echo the development of feminism criticism in the film theories with his unique style of film creation, and it embodied the character and the growing course of the director himself,than he has enlarged the gender theories of film. By researching Stanley KWAN 's variant viewpoint between "to look"and "to be looked",this thesis applies feminism cinematic theories mainly, and combines the theories with the research methods of sociology,psychoanalysis and culture study. Ect. subjects to discuss four aspects of Stanley KWAN's film texts : female images'restoring and constructing, male images'subverting and stripping ,gender speaking in alienating and identity writing in searching. The main purpose of this thesis lies in discovering the reasons why Stanley KWAN is"more woman than really woman", although he is a male director.
