The railroad of Anhui province began to be planned and built at the climaxof the late Qing Dynasty Regaining Rights'Campaign .Though quite a fewrailroads had been planned from the establishment of the Anhui RailroadCompany in 1905 to the occurrence of the War of Resistance Against Japan in1937,only three railroads —Jinpu Railroad, Huainan Railroad and JiangnanRailroad were built and run in Anhui province. They played a certain part inpromoting the social economy development of Anhui province and itssurrounding zones.Firstly, the thesis will introduce the course of being planned and built of therailroads of Anhui province systematically and concretely.The course includesthe late Qing Dynasty, the Northern Warlords and Nanjing GuominGovernment before 1937. Secondly, the thesis will probe into the effects of theAnhui Railroad on promoting the social economy development. The effectsinclude the cities'springing up along the lines, Huainan Railroad'scontributions to the regional social economy development and thedefence—economy value of Jiangnan Railroad. Finally, the thesis will analysethe cause why the railroads of Anhui province were built so slowly andgeneralize their feature. At the same time, the thesis gives the points andforecasts for the Anhui Railroad to promote the social economy development.
