The bronze animal plaque is one of the representativeartifacts in the North China of Bronze age. The study of animalplaque started early and got the most attention of scholars. Since1930s, animal plaques have been collected and recorded widely,but most of the materials are found or stemmed by accident orfrom the grave digging, and have not accurate unearthed placeand coexistent implements which are suitable for deciding theirtime. With the development of archaeological work, animalplaques materials are abundantly discovered, make the researchin this respect step into a more scientific way.This paper selected curl animal plaques, front squatinganimal plaques and behind squatting animal plaques for ourstudy.The main foundation of this text is those animal plaqueswhich have clear excavaton places and have clear age. We studythe types of those animal plaques, and try to find the relationshipbetween the age and the distributing area of animal plaques , andfind its origin if possible.Curl animal plaques appeared earliest in the Xiajiadianupper strata culture in the southeast of Inner Mongolia, we cansay that northern Hebei territory receiveed most influence by theculture. In the same period, other types of curling animal plaquesprevails at the Eurasia. We can say it is not origined from singlearea. They origined respectively from their own archaeologicalculture. The animal plaques of north-west China have littlerelationships with Xiajiadian upper strata culture, they may beinfluenced by the north steppe at that time judging from theirshape.Front squatting and crouching is the natural prostrate way ofcarnivore. Because of portraying animal`s natural form, it is notpossible to judge the cultural difference from the kinds of animal.To study this kind of animal plaques, we mainly considered thedifference of expression and decoration ways. This kind ofanimal plaque first appeared in the southeast Inner Mongolia, anddeveloped in the north Hebei area. The influence of this culturereached Inner Mongol Erdos area, the animal plaques of thePingyang grave in Nenjiang basin in east also bear the culturecharacteristics.Back Squating and crouching animal is a natural behaviorway of herbivorous. The kind of animal decoration first seen onthe deer stones in Mongolia and out Baikal. The Xiajiadian upperstrata culture has been influenced by this kind of deer stone, inthe handle of the short swords, the deer that arranged side by sideappears.
