Task-based Instruction has received popular concern since 1980, and now been still the hot spot of the study on the foreign language teaching. In the strong form of the Task-based Instruction, tasks are considered as the unit of syllabus design and teaching. In the study on the foreign language learning tasks, the relationship between the task type, task condition and the learners'language production is prioritized. Only when this relationship is completely discussed, can we carry out the Task-based Instruction effectively and achieve the teaching goals. This thesis consists of five chapters focusing on the influence of task type and task condition on the L2 learners'oral production. Chapter one is a brief introduction to the whole thesis. It describes the rational and primary purpose of the thesis and reviews relavent researches and outlines the organization of the thesis. Chapter two first presents the theoretical background; then discusses the overall aspects of the tasks: task components, task sequencing and task implementation; finally deals with the three variables of oral performance on tasks-fluency, complexity and accuracy and their general measures as well. Chapter three describes the design of research: the objects, the subjects and procedure including the approach to analysis.
