Xi Murong (1943-) is a famous poet, proser and a well-known painter in Taiwan . Her poems, with Eastern traditional culture and religious tone, are mostly about love, life and nostalgia, and reveal one kind of desolate lasting appeal, which caused a great sensation in Taiwan and the mainland of china during 1980's and 1990's.The thesis analyzes Xi Murong's poems from the following three aspects. Chapter one analyzes Xi Murong's paean to the beauty of life from the aspect of the poems' subjects. Because of the influence from traditional poetry and individual environment, her works are mainly about eternal love, life and nostalgia, although there is something new about the era. From the analysis, we can not only appreciate the strong love and light sadness in her poems but also realize her unique originality of the poems about love, life and nostalgia. Chapter two systematically analyzes and discusses the aesthetics of traditional image, traditional esthetic feeling, as well as combination and creation of ancient poetry from the aspect of artistic form. Chapter three lays emphasis on the analysis of the representation of traditional fatalism ideology of Buddhism and Chanzong, and the influence of traditional notion of love on Xi Murong's poems from the the aspect of traditional culture. From Xi Murong's poems, we can clearly see that Chinese ancient poetic tradition plays the most important role in the comprehensive influence of the three kinds of power -Chinese ancient poetic tradition, western poetic tradition and modern poets' pursuit of individuality. In the choice between tradition and modernity, the poet obviously prefers tradition. Of course, that does not deny the influence of western poetry and modern poetry on Xi Murong. Because of her pursuit of tradition, Xi Murong forms her unique style, and establishes her special creative route.
