This thesis consists of six sections. They are introduction, a description of Mongolian 12 zodiacal animals, symbol of 12 zodiacal animals, the origin of the symbol of 12 zodiacal animals, concluding remarks and references.In the introduction, introduced the general situation of the research, the reason of selected topic and methods.Chapter 1, according to the description of 12 zodiacal animals in Mongolian folk tales and fables, congratulatory speech and folk songs, explored and analyzed 12 zodiacal animals' living circumstance, habits of diet, characteristics of forms and actions. Then described Mongolian's view of life and ways of thinking that amicably getting along with nature.Chapter 2, revealed the symbolic significance of 12 zodiacal animals described in Mongolian custom and folk tales. For example, mouse and pig symbolize happiness; cattle, sheep and dog symbolize loyalty; tiger and dragon symbolize power; snake symbolizes long life; horse symbolizes good furniture; monkey, rabbit and chicken symbolize cleverness. Profoundly studied the traditional thought and cultural intention of Mongolian 12 zodiacal animals.Chapter 3, explored and summarized the cultural factors constituted by symbolic meaning of Mongolian 12 zodiacal animals, through analyzing nomadic life and production way, ancient worship mentality, traditional thinking way that advocating hero and power. Proved 12 zodiacal animals' value in Mongolian culture. |
