By means of the vivid description of the life similar to that of saints and the ideal world in Christianity and the perfection of humanity, the novelist called on that people should maintain the excellent tradition of Christianity and be industrious, thrifty, generous and merciful. In the former novel, the novelist displayed the three worlds of the art of icons in the medieval ages, that is the ideal world, the real world and the dark worlds. Then the novelist gave a detailed account of the image of Matrena in our real world. She ardently loves work and is very kind and always ready to help others. Just as Saint Serrgei, her words and deeds have been approved by Jesus Christ. As a result, her soul has risen to Paradise. In this novel, the novelist also describes the representative of the evil force and the peasants of the same village as Matrena in detail. He discloses their greedy and selfish nature and sheds light on the reasons for their disappearing humanity. In addition, the novelist depicts the terrible life and the struggle between the hero and the evil forces and affirms the positive significance of Christianity in shaping the humanity. In his works, the novelist reveals the reality of declining society in Russia and extols the spirit of saints. In this way, the novelist lashes the cruel and greedy world and traces the evil sources of morals. All the striking conflicts between kindness and wickedness, brightness and darkness, humanity and non-humanity fully illustrate that it is the selfishness and cruelty and greed that lead to endless tragedies on earth.
