Schubert, "The King Of Songs", is one of the first composers of the romantic Lieder since the 19th century. His songs are prominent in the following aspects: the harmonious combination of words and tune, simple but beautiful melody, strong lyricism and rich transitions. He also contributed a lot to the use of piano accompaniment, combining words, melody and piano accompaniment together to create perfect images and rich romantic elements.Besides a short introduction and a conclusion, the thesis has four parts. The first chapter explores the characteristics of the times content and sensibility exhibition of his songs. The second chapter studies the characteristics of the melody and tune in his songs, concentrating on the national characteristics in melody and richness in modulation. It is his pure impressive folksongs and rich modulation that make his songs popular. The third chapter analyses the characteristics of piano accompaniment of his songs, which is the most important point in this paper. The best of his Lieder is fully demonstrated in the complex and rich harmony devices, livid and lovely accompany figure, rich and artistic accompany style. The four chapter explores the characteristics of musical style and form of his songs. The integrated, proportioned and harmonious form and rich, various ideas make his songs models for later generations.
