A Perspective Into Common Functions Of Piano Accompaniment

Piano accompaniment, an important part of traditional Western music, has gained rapid development in China in recent years. With the development of playing, teaching and performances, a number of outstanding works of all kinds of style have appeared, showing vitality and good development trend.This thesis studies the development of Western piano accompaniment in China in recent years. Considering different performance in professional field, ethnic music and choral music, the author reveals research results of a series of works from style, performances to creation, and from exploration of styles, the compatibility, to the breakthrough of these works. Writing and playing of the piano accompaniment works not only reflects effort of the composer to explore the possibility of sound, but also reflects the musical contributions of piano accompaniment from different ethnic groups in the world.The development of Western piano accompaniment requires a combination of changing of Chinese and the world’s aesthetic ideas, and a combination of different music materials and cultural characteristics around the world. The 20th century to the 21st century is the most important stage of development. In addition to the abovementioned efforts, the exotic culture form will need horizontal and vertical expansion in creation and playing, in the aspect of artistic expression and practical functions, and the aspect of the study of specific role of the work. Cultural expression of the piano accompaniment, attempt to show connotation of the creative work, and summed-up possibility of various sound performance in classical works, etc. will be an important manifestation of the traditional Western piano accompaniment getting innovation on the basis of Chinese local culture. Innovative piano accompaniment need to gradually expand into more diverse roles from the classical style. A series of innovative works played by the player requires moderate changes aesthetically, in terms of the specific roles played by musical instruments. Consequently, combining the various styles with the diverse performance features of Western piano accompaniment will be one of the effective channels of Western Piano accompaniment getting more rich nutrition in the soil of Chinese culture in the future.
