The paper inquires into the consciousness of time in the Shen Congwen's works. It does not approach the subject from the opposite pattern between the different cultures, but from the individual consciousness of time. In other words, the paper tries to analyze the different cultures simultaneously and notice the cultural communication fully. In addition to this, the paper also studies the consciousness of time on the cultural condition in the transition. It has the purpose that not only reveals the uniqueness and anxiety caused Shen Congwen inquires the cultures, but with the aid of the case study, examines the complex and diversity of analysis of cultures in the transition.The paper consists of two parts.The first part is emphasizing on the expression of cultural formation in the borderland and the perverse existence of two cultural formation: the cultural formation of borderland and the modern cultural formation.The second part is emphasizing on the consciousness of time in Shen Congwen's works. It consists of three parts: double viewpoints to the past cultural formation; double anxious to the presence; and reconstruction of the future that has the rich meaning and the void form. This part also inquires the subtle differences of the consciousness of time in the different period.
