This article analyzes and elaborates on the cultural context of Dong Libo's Reclamation Literature in terms of his psychology, style and features in composition by a number of literary theories—narrative theory, Childhood Experience Theory, conflict of drama and Oedipus complex. And it explains the phenomena of Dong Libo and his Reclamation Literature from the view of artistic creation and humanity torment. Through analyse and explanation on humanity conflict, female complex, pathos aesthetics as well as dissimilation and defection of intellectual persons in Dong's works, it expects to focus attention and push forward the native literary composition in Xinjiang. The first part of this article outlines the present situation of literary composition in Xinjiang and cultural background, especially a presentation of the literary circles in Xinjiang ever since the end of China's Cultural Revolution (1966--1976) to the birth of Dong Libo's White Bean, the 21st century. It points out that the native writers in Xinjiang are confronting with bewilderment and a plight to be broken through under the social context of the greatly leaped market economy. The second part of this article analyzes the main reason why Dong Libo's novels become much-read novels. By his many-sided childhood experiences and on dissecting a primitive life force in his reclamation story, the author puts forward an idea that this literary composition is a genuinedescription of his Childhood Experience. The works of Dong Libo feature in narrating a simple story in his proficient writing techniques, which cater for the need of the contemporary readers influencing* by a snack culture. In the third part, the article pays much length of writing on conflict of humanity and passion, which is a main thread that intrigues the mind of readers. More than the simply conflicts of an accident or relation of protagonists, still it is a conflict of conscience. For the author assumes that in depicting this conflict of humanity in Dong's works, he also probes into the motif: love, justice and eternity other than the emotion and ethic or morality of the protagonists involved in the conflicts, therefore, the readers could not only look into one aspect of kindness but the aspect of wrongdoing of humanity. This anguish deeply resonating a deep feeling from readers has intensified a tragic ambience and lays a deep impression on readers. The forth part of this article, the author once again discusses the female context and pathos aesthetics in Dong's Reclamation Literature. On the one hand, penetrating into the question of chastity, so to speak, the author balances the chastity of spirit and chastity of flesh. With a question in his mind, a number of Dong's works such as Purity and Scorching Sun were analyzed, the author points out that a desire of chastity is simply a cruel repression on female's spirit in the man-controlled society; On the other hand, putting to .use the Freud's Oedipus complex, there is a hint foreshadowing of maternity permeated from beginning to end in Dong's works, which is a frequent highlight in hit-and-miss. On discussing thepathos aesthetics of Dong's Reclamation Literature, the author, from tragedy of submission and victimization surrounded by the halo of collectivism, dissertates the fall of human rights and wordless struggle compressed under the organization's rights. In the fifth part, the author expounds the intellectual persons' dissimilation and defection in the Xiayedi Organization. The experience of these intellectual persons in Dong's works confronting the power is nothing but a process of torment of personality and soul, namely, a process of dissimilation and defection, even a process of soul sinking into a moss of servility and distortion. The success of Dong Libo's works thanks to his long tempered hardship had caused a tremendous shock among a great number of readers. Though limitations exist in his works to some degree, compared with a less number of novel compositions in Xinjiang, he still shows a dark horse rising from the western region. These brief analyse and comment on Dong's works expect more research to be appeared.
