Gender study offers new opportunity for development of literary criticism. Gender is one of important cultural identity. It is sure to influence writer's view of life and world. So, it can open a new window for us to research in gender intention of literature. This article will be review and reappraise CaoYu's drama from the gender angle. The dissertation includes three parts: introduction, main argument and extended conclusion. Introduction mainly tells about the feasibility to study CaoYu's drama from the gender angle. First, it is a new question for study of CaoYu's drama.Second, it is also a valuable question. Because it not only conform to rethinking about modernity of chinese modern literature but also respond to demand of contemporary culture. At last, the part establish five objects: The Thunderstorm, The Sunrise, The Country, The BeiJing's man and The Family. The main argument is divided three sections. Section 1 analyzes female figures of CaoYu's drama. We come to the conclution that the women to pursue individual character show CaoYu's breakout form traditional gender ideology and the women to seek self-sacrifice show his subsidence again.
