Narrative Study On American-European Detective Fiction

The first chapter of this assay has combed the developing history of the American-European detective fiction and its history of narrative research briefly. Then in the second part, with the help of abundant theory resources of narratology, I analysed many aspects of detective story such as its structure, discourse, personage's relation, suspense, intertextuality and its concern of the narration. In addition, under the thinking of persuing innovative changes constantly, American-European detective fiction also produced so-called anti-detective story which has been studied in the third chapter.Through this kind of work, I expect to have deeper cognition to the quality, characteristic and reality of American-European detective fiction.
