In 1905, when Nasmasusak became a new comer of literal field, Japanese new style novel has been rather mature, yet the naturalism-oriented art brought novel to a new summit and the novel as a literature style is very mature. The writers of nature-school claimed to abandon their writing ideal and to write as it is in life only and disclose the darkness of social life. Nasmasusak's thoughts on writing is totally against that of nature-school writers. In his early period of writing, he insisted on describing the rightness and advocated that literature may have its own imaginations and novels should be tasteful, that is, a novel with intentions and taste is a good novel in his mind. He thought literature should be beyond real worldly life and only in this way has it remained its own beauty. In his later period of writing, self-egoism is consistently run through his works and he advocated to build a new art which is a combination of eastern and western arts , a art based on Japanese nationality. His noble character and criticism on Meij society are represented in his works which won him the fame of "great guider of life ".Dissatisfactory life made him a man with sensitive nerves and gave him more opportunities to feel the high and low of life and more chances to discover the darkness of his society; on the other hand, he also had deep and broad Chinese literature knowledge and had a very good western education background. All the above merits make him a more skillful writers than those of his times. In this paper, I make analysis on Nasmasusak's novel by his texts from the narrative theory and my paper consists of five chapters. I put my emphasis on analyzing Nasmasusak's narrative skill, his mastering of language and guide the reader to appreciate his writing achievements. In the introduction, I give a brief summary of Nasmasusak's life and his writing career and the relevant research about Nasmasusak at home and abroad. The main contents and structure are formulated also.In chapter one, I make a critic on Nasmasusak's literature theory, i.e. narrative theory, with emphasis on margin theory, self-ego theory and non-worldly theory. The contents of Nasmasusak's theory is explained and how he applied these theories to his writing are also analyzed. In chapter two, applying narrative theory to Nasmasusak's writing, I find that Nasmasusak told his story with different character views, mainly with the all mighty third person full focus narrative method and the first person restricted internal focus narrative way, but he seldom used the third person external narrative view.In the third chapter the narrative structure is analyzed, the author think there is no fixed structure in Nasmasusak's novel: the lengths of his novels are different and narrative speed is also changing in different novels. All arrangements are for the convenience of serializing in newspaper which make story more interesting and win more readers. But his novel has some consistency in general; form his many novels , I find the topics of his novels, the personality of the characters in his works and the specially design of narrative method are internally connected, which is a great achievements of Nasmasusak's novel. In chapter four, through analyzing his narrative language, I find he is good at absorbing the elite of folk literature. Using one person cosmic dialogue art style, he make his language in his novel full of buffoonery and humor, also, he is good at using exaggerating, his satirizing show more sharpness and more power then, and accordingly the character who is scored looked more ridiculous and absurd. In the fifth chapter, the narrative psychology is studied. The psychological description is very fine and vivid in his works from which we can find the psychological describing come from his own feeling and self-consciousness. Nasmasusak lay much emphasis on psychological description, and he is regard as a unmatched psychological writer in Meiji and Taitial period.I make conclusions at the end chapter and point out the purpose and meaning of the present research-...
