Mild individuality as well as being traditional-bred from childhood, that made Hu Shi's interest focused on researching native thoughts and culture. Comparing with other contemporary literators, Hu Shi was more rational, he analyzed tradition and revalue it, attempting to succeed to the soul within tradition. His ideology was the Sino-western cultural intercourse that based on tradition, and its motivation lay on finding the way that tradition-compatible and tradition-variable for the Chinese modern literature development towards the modernization.
