At present researches on NPs are not rare either inlands or overseas and various researches find that NPs are similar to sentences in many aspects. However, previous attempts at describing NPs as DPs have left many problems. Hence our purpose is to provide a more satisfactory explanation for unifying NPs as DPs. This object is realized by answering the following question:Is it feasible to unify NPs as DPs by applying BPS theory? How to unify NPs as DPs if it is feasible? In order to provide new evidence to prove the similarity between NPs and sentences, we have another purpose, which is to prove the existence of NP-internal movement. Because Move α is an important operation in sentence construction, we need to prove it is also a crucial operation in NP construction. This purpose can be fulfilled by giving a positive answer to the research question as stated above in bold font.We probe the research question by applying Bare Phrase Structure theory through the following steps:1.) Reviewing relevant studies done by previous researchers;2.) Reviewing relevant theories;3.) Constructing Chinese NPs into DPs;4.) Describing Chinese DP-internal movement.Through the research we find that determiners can be classified into four types, namely, overt determiners with [+D] value, overt determiners with [-D] value, covertdeterminers with [+D] value and covert determiners with [-D] value. Our researchconclusion is that Chinese NPs can be unified as DPs in which Move a does exist. This provides another important proof for the similarity between NPs and sentences.
