This paper presents a sketch of the phonology and an overview of the phrase structures of Kam, a Kam-Sui language of the Kam-Tai language family, along with an introduction of its distribution and cultural background of the Kam ethnic group.; The primary emphasis is on the treatment of the Kam noun and verb phrases within the framework of Generative Grammar. X-bar schema of NP and VP are extracted after analyzing of the internal organization is conducted; agreement and dependency among the phrase constituents is checked through. Special issues, such as passive structure and topicalization, are also discussed. |
