The developmentism grew into the strong discourse as the market economy and the construction of the modernization in china upsurged gradually from the 1990's. Desirable and consumerism writing became fashionable in the cultural areas. From the middle of the nineties on, Wang Anyi's novels attending downwards to the common customs and the folk rectify criticize the developmentism illusions by the aesthetic resources derived from the details of the daily life and labor, which is different to her novels in the first half of nineties trying to construct the intellectual's culture spirit. There are two clues in Wang Anyi's novels from the middle of the nineties. On the one hand, she is interested in the life style of the townsfolk in Shanghai with great concentration and has a whole grasp of the city's inner history. This part of her novels describes a more vivid city image than Nostalgia of Shanghai and exposes the dilemma of the past colonial city of a less developed country in the Globalization. On the other hand, she reviews the villages and towns in the north of the Huaihe River and extracts the quite and lenience and cultivated character of the rural areas to write an aesthetic history of the rural civilization. Wang Anyi's writings are the solemn and stirring resistance to the contemporary social reality.
