Self-regulated learning (SRL) is the focus of attention in the field of pedagogy and psychology . The cultivation of SRL is regarded as the most important aim by the researchers of pedagogy, While researchers of psychology paid much more attention on the factors that influence SRL and on the mental mechanism concerning SRL.This paper first reviewed the theory in the field of psychology and linguistics, and sum up the frame of investigation. Based on the above theories, it clarifies the necessities of SRL and the methods to promote SRL. Taking undergraduates as subjects, undergraduates' English learning autonomy scale as measuring instruments, the paper discusses the present situation of undergraduates' SRL and factors influencing undergraduates' SRL. The results indicate:1. Significant differences among different grade undergraduates, in general, it shows the trend that it descends during first three years and ascends on the last year.2. Significant differences among different genders, especially in the dimension of learning value and learning content.3. Undergraduates' learning autonomy is firmly related with the achievement of CET4, but it never shows that the higher the achievement of CET4 is, the stronger undergraduates' learning autonomy is.4. Significant differences among freshmen from different areas, especially their general learning autonomy ,dimension of learning environment and willpower. The conclusion indicates that present education system teaching outline teaching method and evaluation system restrict the development of SRL to some extent. But the demand for high quality person and the advent of lifetime learning society will boost the reform of education.
