Lu Xun and Lao She are the most famous writers in Chinese contemporary literary history. Their contribution of works and ideas are very important to our country's spiritual construction. They lived in the changed society, so their realization and analysis to Chinese literary history and society have reached some extent. And they leaved the precious legacy about their cultural ideas. Especially Lu Xun, after him, almost nobody can avoid his effect including Lao She. This text will avoid the similarity, "the national character ", and links to Lu Xun and Lao She's novels ,trying to expatiate Lu Xun and Lao She's thoughts from the literary connotation. They not only inherited the traditional culture inevitably but also were edified by the west culture. They scanned the people's economic life and spiritual life by newly cognitive thinking manner. In their literary works, Lao She inherited the topic of female liberation from Lu Xun. Affected by traditional culture, their sacrifice patterns were different, one faced to the future and the other looked back for history. Next, the different philosophies, "for life " and "write life ", determined that Lu Xun and Lao She had taken on different historical responsibilities, ideology initiation and culture review. At last, through classifying and concluding the common characters in Lu Xun and Lao She's novels, we can expatiate why they choose the characters and how to represent their cultural ideas and their attitude to the culture.
