A Corpus Based Study On Phonetic Characters Of Finals In Shanghai Dialect-Mandarin Interlanguage

Inter-language not only exists in learning Chinese as a second language, but also can be found in learning Mandarin for the people with different dialects in China. Some people call the latter one as" Local Mandarin" .It is systematical and will exist for a long time. As more and more Chinese people form different dialect areas are learning Mandarin and most of them can just speak it with dialect accent. It makes teaching Mandarin more difficult and challenges PSC. So it's very important for us to research the "dialect-mandarin "system, to get a better understanding of it.The inter-language between dialects and mandarin is a language system, and we can also call it "the errors existing in the process of mandarin learning", the error can be seen in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. Now we are going to focus on the pronunciation part and chose Shanghai dialect-Mandarin inter-language as our main point.We build a corpus based on the phonetic characteristics of Shanghai dialect-Mandarin inter-language and study the pronunciation errors of finals. There are four parts here. First, we will get 90 people's (we call them sample here) PSC test papers and tapes from PSC center in Shanghai. Then we will establish the Shanghai dialect-Mandarin inter-language database with the first part (character reading) and the second part (word reading) form the test papers, which means we will install the two part in Microsoft Access and mark them through listening to the test tapes to know which part of the syllable is wrong. For example, it's the initial, the final, the tone or several of them. Furthermore, we will analyze the characteristics of the finals in Shanghai dialect-Mandarin inter-language. According to the PSC, there are six grades in the inter-language, so we will discuss the six grades respectively and find which two finals will have relevance. Finally, we will find the typical sample to have a specific understanding of the inter-language by one people.Three new ideas are involved in this thesis: First, analyzing the finals of Shanghai dialect-Mandarin inter-language based on corpus cannot be found in the past studies. Second, speech recognition is related to the pronunciation part of inter-language, even in the investigation of criminal cases, there's much to do with the accented language. Third, language teaching needs to know which parts are more difficult and how to solve these problems, and which is the standard to distinguish different levels of the inter-language is very important to PSC.Further research will be carried out, based on different Dialect-Mandarin inter-language materials, and with more considerations.
