The woman writers all always give their attention to women's subsistence, it is their motivity of writing. Because of different times and rigime, the subsistence of women lived in different country is different, too. But at all events, women are all in inferior positions, and in woman writers'writings about women's subsistence, we can discover the deep internal contradiction. Based on Gone with the Wind , that was written by America Margaret Mitchell in the forepart of 20 century, and You are a River , that was written by Chinese Chi Li in the evening of 20 century, this thesis studies women's subsistence and the abruption between body and heart of woman writers. These two heroines were all adamant and brave women. There were much sameness in their experience and character. Although they lived in different times and countries they all underdone some kinds of difficulty and pain which the ordinary person dare not suppose. For the sake of survival, they had to make use of their body. But community didn't understand their action, and public opinions also comdomned them. Thinking of women's subsistence, Margaret Mitchell and Chi Li opened out deeply the puzzledom of women's subsistence, opened out the hardships and pain women experienced for survival, and the woman writers sympathized the heroines very much. But, in their writings, they very contradictorily expressed their denial to the heroines'actions——using body for survival. In the works, we can see these two woman writers and these two heroines were all affected and restricted by the masculine society consciousness. This thesis based on these two works of these two woman writers, and based on feminist literary theories, compared the heroines from the point of view of society idedogy and true life, detailedly observed women's subsistence, and opened out that women should infracted moralities for existence, and opened out the internal abruption of woman writers. This thesis have three chapters. The chapter one is "the women in the war and in the convulsion", it is about the background of these two heroines: America Scarlett lived in the epoch of the war between the states; Chinese Lala lived in the epoch institutional revolution, they were all affected deeply by the war and the convulsion. The chapter two is "the hardships of women's subsistence", in this chapter, I detailedly compared these two heroines'experience and their character, it has four parts: "the unbearable weight of being of women: the status of widow","from 'patriarchy'family to women's family","occupation"and "public opinions". The chapter three is "the antinomy of women's subsistence". Based on the true life and theory, it analyseses the antinomy of women's subsistence, expresses the deeply worry and pays much attention to the miserable experience of women.
