A Study On The Narrative Idea Of LIAOZHAIZHIYI

This thesis coordinates and summarizes the theory of the narrative art of the short story of classical Chinese, based on analyzing the case study of Pu Songling's Liaozhai. During the process of studying, referring to the western narrative theory and the relevant terms and categories, it aims at looking for the narrative thought or the narrative concept included in the art-altogether repeatedly appearing in Liaozhai, which is a basic research thinking of this thesis. Because of Pu Songling's few summarizing of theories, this thesis tries to combine all comments while analysing, comparing the difference between its source material and colloquial story with similar subject and matters and the difference between original manuscript and final version in existent manuscript, expects to really find and sum up the narrative thought contained in Pu's Liaozhai from the theory aspect.This thesis is made up of introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction has offered several kinds of main criticism while studying Liaozhai in the past two decades and the necessity of narrative study, and has introduced the present research dynamic status of this subject. The text is divided into four parts. First, it is about the narrative structure of Liaozhai. This part analyzes the historiography external form, the plot structure mode and the narrative grammar systematically from outward appearance to inner essence and from diachronic trace to the source to analyzing history altogether. Second, it is about the narrative time of Liaozhai . It makes a concrete analysis of the humanization of the narrative time scale of Liaozhai, the time and space characteristic which is specialized in summarzing which is demonstrated due to its limited short system compared with novel, and the cultural connotation included in the prolepsis in Liaozhai.
