Cheng Da-chang, the contemporary scholar of Zhu'xi, was born in Hui Zhou in Nan sung Dynasty. He had a lifespan of 74 years, of which 36years he served as an officer who was concerned with the unification of the country and the life of common people.Besides, he wrote 17 editions and a great many of poems and articles. Of his editions, several were chosen to be the textbooks of his Dynasty. Of his poems, 46 were collected into "the whole poetry in Song Dynasty."He had a wide field of vision and made fruitful achievements in a great variety of scopes, such as scripture, history, linguistics and geography.However, contemporary academia has not paid enough attention to his academic research, which can not match his academic achievements and status. It is meaningful to evaluate his academic status objectively for the historical development of Chinese academia and Chinese culture.Hui Studies is both regional and periodical. To explore his academic ideology helps us to further understand the roots of Hui Studies and the historical development of Chinese academia and Chinese culture.This article is composed of 5 sections .It respectively expounds his achievements in history, scripture, history, linguistics and geography.
