DuFu, known as a comprehensive expression of poet sage in the history of China, is also a celebrity throughout the world cultural circles. The Tang Dynasty poet, HanYu speaks highly of his poems: "where the LiBai and DuFu's literary works are, there will be shining with boundless radiance". (Investigating ZhangJi). YuanZhen also highly appraises: "ever since poet time, no one can compare favorably with DuFu"(The Board of Investigation Officer, Mr DuFu's Epitaph and Preface). Therefore, for a long history, the poetical works of DuFu have been taken as a focusing poet and the central issue of researching all the time. Probably owing to the excessive influence and tremendous accomplishments from his political lyric poetry, people always negative the study of his pastoral poetries. In recent years, people have made a thorough and in-depth investigation on DuFu's landscape poetries and have achieved certain success, thus contributing to the progress of the research on his pastoral poetries. But from the process of the development and changing of landscape and pastoral poetries, together with the blending evolution of both, the study still remains unnoticeable. This paper attempts to investigate DuFu's landscape and pastoral poetries written in the period when he resided in DuFu cottage from this perspective. It divides these poetries into eight parts according to the movements of the author's emotion. They are "the temporary joy from perching on the branch", "the worries from the clouds drawing near music terrace", "the merry singing in the joyful fields", "the humble house awkwardly deserted", "the lonely trace of old hermit", "the pleasure of returning to cottage", "the embarrassment of entering chancellery in an old age", "the protruding state of spending remaining years till death". It combines the comparison and contrast of landscape and pastoral poetries between the representatives in the flourishing period and tang dynasty, such as, poems from WangWei and Meng Haoran, and the poetries by DuFu in this period; thus, explore the characteristics and development of DuFu's landscape and pastoral poetries. They are as follows: 1. DuFu concerns the life with secular sight, regarding fields andgardens as the homeland of poets. 2. The true qualities of concerning about his country and people could be touched from DuFu's landscape and pastoral poetries. 3. All the sceneries in DuFu's poetries are actual living settings. 4. Based on the basic objective description, the poet attaches importance to the projection of personal subjective emotion. On the basis of these, it concludes the significance of the landscape and pastoral poetry: reflecting the creativity stemming from carrying forward the traditions of landscape and pastoral poetry, and indicating that the Chinese ancient landscape and pastoral poetries gradually turn from scholar-officials' leisure and carefree emotion to a new trend which is much closer to life, reality and the people.
