Contribution inscription and tombstone are quite literature colorful of the inscription in pre-T'ang dynasty. The writing criterion of the two inscriptions finalized the design in this period and reached the pinnacle. But the academe has not put more importance to the study of the inscription in pre-T'ang dynasty at the present time. From the angle of literary style, the author traces to the source and defines contribution inscription and tombstone by the basic method of the method of literary text in this article. The author also analyses the style character of the two inscriptions from four aspects, such as body, content, tongue and style. The author divides the phase according to the interior rule and writing peculiarity of the two inscriptions from the angle of literary text, and selects the representations of every phase; they are Li Si, Ban Gu, Cai Yong, Cao Zhi, Sun Chuo, Xu Ling, Yu Xin, and analyses their works in order to outline the track of the development and evolvement of the inscription in pre-T'ang dynasty. The author also analyses the society and culture reason of the two inscriptions from the angle of culture. The author ties to grasp the interior rule and exterior reason, makes clear the history development venation and develops the study space of the development and evolvement of the contribution inscription and tombstone in pre-T'ang dynasty by the integration of the method of literary text study and style study.
