Study On Monk Poets In Middle Tang And Late Tang Dynasty

In ancient China, the criticism on monk poets is not very high. It is true that the achievement of monk poets is limited from the viewpoint of aesthetics. But the amount of the poems of them is considerable, especially in middle Tang and late Tang dynasty. The thesis focuses on this phenomenon and tries to explain why this phenomenon came out at that time and what kind of viewpoint we should take when reviewing the creation of monk poets. The thesis depends on the background of "being Intellectual" of the monk poets and points out that the prosperity of monk poetry is relative to the desire of getting rid of their marginal situation and carrying out their own value. They carried out this desire from two aspects, one is historical , the other is realistic. In this course, poem is their important approach to the outside world. They created poems in an arduous way, and formed the lucid style.
