As a special group, facing the huge pressures of study, employment and life, postgraduates produced vehement mental conflict, and their mental-health state are affected swinging by those factors. In recent years, more and more postgraduates have various mental or behavioral problems because of the reasons of mental health. Postgraduates' psychological problem is recognized gradually by more and more people. At present, there have had many studies on college students' mental health, but most study is concerned with undergraduates, while the studies about postgraduates are limited.The main purpose of this survey is to understand the postgraduates' mental-health state and its relative factors and supple the scientific evidence for finding effective measures to enhance and improve their mental-health state and doing education and management work.The 496 postgraduates and 421 undergraduates (as contrastive group) from three different universities of Henan Province were tested with the SCL-90, EPQ-N, Coping Style Questionnaire, Social Support Eveluation Measuring Table and a self-developed questionnaire from October to November in 2005, all the original data were input into a computer analysis by SPSS.Postgraduates' mental-health state is superior to undergraduates but inferior to the contemporaries. The checkout rate of positive symptom is 33.47%, about 7. 26% postgraduates are considered as have middle level or above of mental disorders. As a whole, postgraduates' mental-health state of Henan Province is poor and should be paid more attention. The mental-health level of male, country or second-grade postgraduates are worse than those on the contrary. The author is of the opinion that the postgraduates' mental -health state is associated with psychological course, the will of asking for help, neuroticism, coping style and social support, and there are mutual correlations between these factors.
