Listening teaching plays an important role in the TCSL. It is an important language skill lesson. Textbooks are the basis of teaching, and listening materials are the main part of listening textbooks. Compared with other lesson types, the dependence of the listening teaching on listening materials is stronger.This paper selects five intermediate Chinese listening textbooks that have been published since 1990s as study objects. According to the basic principles of compiling textbooks and some related theories of assessing textbooks, adopting the ways of data-collecting statistics and questionnaire, this paper analyzes the present compiling conditions of the five sets of textbooks from the following five ways: the length of the listening materials; the theme of the listening materials; the style of the listening materials; the adaptation of the listening materials; the difficulty level of the listening materials. On this basis, the paper analyzed and discussed the deficiencies existing in the five sets textbooks in the five perspectives, indicates the items that should be put into consideration in the process of compiling listening materials, and offers suggestions for further improvement.The author divides these five teaching materials into three types (comprehensive listening; skill training; HSK test-Oriented intensive training) intermediate Chinese listening textbooks on this basis. At the end of this paper, the author pointed out three characteristics of the intermediate Chinese comprehensive listening textbook.
