In teaching Chinese as a foreign language, listening, speaking, reading and writing are the four important links to cultivate communicative competence. No matter from the perspective of language learning or the needs of learners for communication, the development of listening skills takes precedence over speaking, reading and writing.Textbooks are the basis and gist of classroom teaching. The requirements and purposes of textbooks are different at different teaching stages.Only appropriate textbooks can improve the teaching effect.Judging from the current compilation of textbooks at various stages of Professional foreign language, senior textbooks of the junior high school have a certain amount of research results, while the textbooks for preparatory Chinese education which was formally developed in 2010 are almost blank, and the major preparatory education bases only choose textbooks used for teaching freely according to the syllabus. There is no unified standard.According to the author's teaching practice and investigation in the preparatory course of the International Cultural Exchange College of Central China Normal University, the "Chinese Course" used in the preparatory teaching base, and its accompanying "Chinese Listening Course" and "Chinese Reading Course" cannot fully meet the features of preparatory education, which are different from the purpose of preparatory education. After reviewing the textbooks used in some of the preparatory courses,we can conclude that the compiling of listening textbooks at this stage is lacking in systematicness, enjoyment and practicability, and the content is old and single. The compilation of most textbooks are presented as the form of workbook, barely involving lectures and homework. To a certain extent, this type of textbooks has an impact on the effect of preparatory education for foreign students in China. Therefore, the preparation of textbooks specifically for preparatory education is a problem that needs to be solved at present. This article begins with a multiple investigation of the "Chinese Listening Course"used in the listening and speaking class of preparatory Chinese education in Central China Normal University, including written styles, corpus and exercises in the pronunciation and intonation sections, the number of new words in the listening comprehension section, the length of the corpus, and the type of theme, the amount of practice and the form of practice, etc.,and makes a statistical analysis in combination with the Chinese final examination of preparatory courses and the related data of Intensive Chinese for Pre-University students-Listening I published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press in 2019,conducts a comparative analysis to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the Chinese Listening Course. Then,a questionnaire was sent to foreign students from the Central China Normal University Preparatory Course to get feedback on the use of the textbook. Finally, based on the evaluation and analysis of textbooks, the results of questionnaire, and the author's teaching practice, several suggestions are made for the compilation of the Chinese listening textbooks for preparatory courses, including the features that should be noticed in the overall arrangement,as well as corpus and exercises. It is hoped that there can be some reference and inspiration for the preparation of teaching materials in the preparatory stage.
