The personal experience of Bai Xianyong, the Taiwan author, is special and full of legendary color. He was born in an eminent family. Since his boyhood he has been familiar with Chinese classic literature. His childhood suffered from the illness and the wars. He witnessed the change of the family's fate. In the university he accepted deep influence of western modernism literature. Subsequently he went on study abroad for literature technique. And his affectional experience is also different from most of the others. All of these experiences tremendously effected Bai's creation.The division of his fiction creation is the leaving for American. After he went to USA his novels became more and more mature. And the theme of the novels also goes to coherence. Bai pays attention to those "marginal men" from the aspects of culture, politics and social ethical relations. Objectively this kind of concern gives the novels strong sense of tragedy and lose; While subjectively, the author shows his pity and concern for all of the mankind.
