There are still many problems in English listening comprehension teaching in out country. Many students can understand some material when they read it, but not when they hear it. This paper analyzes some of the theories on the teaching of listening comprehension. At the same time, by analyzing the nature of reading aloud, this paper proves that reading aloud is beneficial for the development and perfection of the sound recognition system. It therefore concludes that reading aloud can improve listening comprehension. In the first part, this paper explains whether and how reading aloud can improve the ability of listening comprehension theoretically. First, a description and analysis of the process, nature and subskills of listening comprehension, as well as some factor which can affect the listening comprehension are given. Second, the sound recognition in the process of listening comprehension and the working principle of the sound recognition system are described. Finally, by describing the nature of reading aloud, this paper argues that reading aloud can improve the ability of listening comprehension. To prove this point, the results of an experiment on this tpoic are described. The results of the experiment show that reading aloud improve listening comprehension. After a two month experiment, post test were held and the results show that participants in group A, which received "reading aloud" training, is better than group B , which did not receive "reading aloud" training. The difference between them is significant. Also, another experiment wes held; here the results indicated that reading aloud can improve sound recognition of words. The analysis of three post-tests' data of experiment I shows that the positive effect of reading aloud on listening comprehension does not appear immediately after the "reading aloud" training. Instead, it becomes more significant after the "reading aloud" training has stopped. Therfore, this paper claims that the positive effect of reading aloud on listening comprehension is delayed-action.
