This article sets out from solving "Socrates' problem", and has an overall research around the philosophy of Socrates on life and death, social backgrounds and historical origin with two aspects vertically and horizontally. This is a study in an all-round way around "the death of Socrates" and "the life which have not self-introspecting is not worth living", from the different aspects in terms of Socrates' cognition, practice of the life and death and the transcendence to it.We advocate, Socrates have an important status in the process of the development of the western philosophy. He pays close attention to people's own soul, morals, happiness, etc. from the rational angle profoundly, and sets up philosophy on the foundation of the rationalism firmly. Socrates did no longer to continue the study route of ancient Greece traditional about the natural philosophy, at the same time, he was different from the wise at that time to the perceptual, relative analysis about the human nature.The rationalism that Socrates advocates is not merely a mainstream of Greek philosophy, and is an important tradition of the western philosophy and scientific.Socrates had finished his own life in a kind of tragic form. His death is left to people's too much thinking, not only the incident of his death, but also his philosophy on life and death, we can say , his intelligence about life and death has surmounted the incident of death, his soul has been still alive up to now, and reach the eternity.
